Is this food safe? Although this lacquer is considered non toxic, the modern method is not recommended for vessels that will expose the lacquer to hot liquids (like coffee, soups etc..) This is perfect as a sugar / salt bowl or for decorations or serving dry food (candy, chocolate, nuts etc..) It is also recommended not to microwave or put in the dishwasher.

Please note that copper will tarnish over time in to a verdigris color.
